Universities and Edtech: let's work together to promote student success through digital technology!

France Universités : date de publication

On July 6, 2022, at La Rochelle Université, France Universités hosted a day of reflection on the future of higher education. Entitled “Universities and Edtech: promoting student success with digital technology”, the conference sought to strengthen interactions between universities and Edtech (Education and Technology). It was organized in partnership with the nonprofit Edtech France and La Rochelle Université, with the support of the Banque des territoires.

Higher education and research are gradually adopting innovative technological tools that are adapted to new student profiles and can facilitate student learning. However, even if digital technology has become a priority for higher education in France over the last two years, universities are generally not familiar with the Edtech ecosystem and rarely interact with Edtech actors.

The day of exchange on July 6 had two objectives:

  • To better acquaint universities with Edtech solutions;
  • To enable Edtech entrepreneurs to better understand university needs and to discern new opportunities for cooperation.

Findings and perspectives

A number of key issues were addressed. How might the links between private actors and universities be strengthened to provide students with the best possible support throughout their university career, from high school onwards and even after graduation? How will the state of the art evolve in 2022, for digital tools that could be of use to higher education institutions? What best practices should be adopted in the field? How can we invent the university of tomorrow? How can we (re)gain critical perspective with respect to digital technology issues?

The day included round tables and participatory workshops, giving actors the opportunity to meet and to get to know each other better, while discussing themes of mutual interest.

The conference was organised with the support of La Banque des territoires.
